Virtual Memorial Day Observance on May 22nd

Time: 7:30 AM

Watch via Zoom:

We are moving ahead with plans for Memorial Day observance on May 22, ahead of Memorial Day itself.  The plan is a motorcade with small, individual ceremonies (no spectators) at each hamlet memorial. The Katonah American Legion Post 1575, Bedford Fire Department, Bedford Hills Fire Department, Katonah Fire Department, Katonah Bedford Hills Volunteer Ambulance Corps and Bedford Police Department will participate in a motorcade.

Due to guidelines on social distancing and gatherings, there will be no marching parade and we discourage curbside viewing. We will be doing everything possible to live stream the observances.

Details are still being worked out and I will keep you updated.  I thank David Zapsky, who chairs the Town’s Veterans Advisory Committee, for proposing that the Town provide an observance which involves all hamlets and brings in the community “virtually”.

I also wish to thank The American Legion, the Fire Departments/Districts, the KBHVAC, Police Chief Padilla, and especially Tom Cielinski, Commander of the Katonah American Legion Post 1575, and Tom Newman, First Vice Commander, for their key assistance in putting this together.
