The Bedford – Lewisboro – Pound Ridge Drug Abuse Prevention Council (DAPC) engages in an tri-town effort to provide programming, resources, and education to minimize substance abuse in our communities. DAPC relies on a part time coordinator to develop a schedule of programs and outreach and to tap into community and school connections, volunteers and additional resources to carry it out. The Council is currently seeking a part time, paid coordinator to work up to 15 hours/week.

Since 1971, the Towns of Bedford, Lewisboro, and Pound Ridge have engaged in a tri-town effort to provide programming, resources, and education to minimize substance abuse in our communities. The Drug Abuse Prevention Council (DAPC) consists of a part time coordinator, representatives appointed by each Town Board, liaisons from the school districts and health services, and other volunteers.

Over the years the DAPC has used many research-based strategies to help families, students, and adults adopt the skills and attitudes necessary to reduce risks of substance use and abuse. Interactive programming, peer led activities, and skill-building opportunities as well as education campaigns are necessary to reach a broad audience and provide connections and teach strategies that may head off issues that lead to substance use and abuse.

The Council seeks a part time coordinator to develop and administer program activities, engage in publicity and outreach, seek grants, and organize volunteers. More information can be found here. For more information, please contact Tanya Orr, Director of Personnel torr@bedfordny.gov no later than October 1.
