January 9, 2020 Special Town Board Meeting
The Town Board held a special meeting yesterday for the purposes of adopting a resolution regarding the alarming increase and frequency of incidents of anti-Semitism, hatred and divisiveness, including recent attacks in nearby communities and across the Nation. The Board adopted a resolution against anti-Semitism in response to the alarming increase and frequency of anti-Semitic hate crimes.
The resolution re-affirms the Town’s policies and practices as an open and affirming community, one which decries and denounces acts of anti-Semitism. The resolution sets out specific policies, including General Orders of the Police Department. In response to suggestions made by members of the public who attending the meeting, the Town Board added a provision under which the Town Board commits to developing “a written plan in order to follow-up with and evaluate the specific implementation of the terms and provisions set forth in this Resolution”
