As part of planning for the NYC Delaware shutdown scheduled for October 2023, the Consolidated Water District will be obtaining water supply from an interconnection with the Village of Mount Kisco and our Harris Road Well from 3/6/23 -3/21/23. District customers may notice a slightly different taste due to the change in supply, and it is possible that some temporary water discoloration from iron in the water mains may occur due to flow direction changes in the water mains. Flow direction will change since the Mount Kisco interconnection is on the opposite side of our system from our normal supply. Our system recently completed our annual water main flushing program, which reduces the risk of discolored water.
As background, the Bedford Consolidated Water District serves approximately 2,000 customers in Bedford Hills and Katonah. The District’s primary sources of supply is the NYCDEP Delaware Aqueduct. In late 2023, NYC plans to require that the District use alternative supplies for approximately eight months due to NYC’s construction work on the Delaware Aqueducts. The District intends to use the Harris Road Well and Mount Kisco Interconnection. Both are approved for use by Westchester County Department of Health.
