Did you know that in Bedford, our Firehouses and Ambulance Corps are staffed entirely by volunteers? That’s right – – the folks you see behind the wheels of those trucks and ambulances are residents just like you who volunteer their time in the most helpful and important way imaginable: they help keep their community safe.

In the Town of Bedford, there are three fire departments – Katonah, Bedford Hills and Bedford Village – as well as the Katonah-Bedford Hills Volunteer Ambulance Corps (KBHVAC). All are volunteer organizations and in need of volunteers. No matter which hamlet you reside in or what your skills, training level or interests are, there is a role waiting for you as a Bedford First Responder.

There are positions for anyone, including:

1) Interior Firefighters

2) Exterior Firefighters

3) Support Firefighters and Ambulance Support

4) Fire/Police Firefighters and EMTs

5) Administrative positions (Treasury, Secretarial, and committee member positions)

6) Kitchen, mechanical, electrical and media experts are always needed

7) and so many more!!

The Bedford first responders provide an integral component of life here in Bedford. In addition to providing a vital service to your neighbors, you will reap the benefits of being part of a close and interconnected community of like-minded volunteers.
