Information regarding 2021 Exemption Renewal Applications
Please be advised that the Bedford Town Board has adopted, by local option, to eliminate the 2021 exemption renewal filing requirement for any person(s) who received the Low Income Senior Aged exemption on last year’s 2020 Assessment Roll. A renewal application is NOT required and the 2020 exemption will be automatically rolled over to the 2021 Assessment roll. No further action is required for person(s) receiving this exemption.
In addition, exemption renewal applications are not required for any person(s) currently receiving the Basic or Enhanced STAR exemption. The NYS Dept. of Tax and Finance will annually verify your income for STAR exemption qualifying purposes.
For all other exemptions which require annual renewal, the assessor’s office will be mailing renewal applications by mid-February. The filing deadline for all renewal exemption applications as well as new exemption applications is May 1st, 2021.
Please contact the Assessor’s office at (914)-666-5149 or via email at Assessor@Bedfordny.gov if any additional information or clarification is needed.
The Assessor is appointed by the Town Board to a six-year term. The Assessor is responsible for setting the assessed value of buildings and land within a property. The assessment is the value upon which a property’s taxes are based.
