Senior Advocate

Senior Advocate Services are available to all Town of Bedford residents, including resident immediate family members residing outside of the town.  Through the senior advocate, you may access effective resources, including information about grants and issues related to aging-specific concerns; explore ways in which your skills can be used to volunteer (especially needed are: snow angels, make seasonal cards, task-based gift certificates); join our list as a resource for individual seniors to hire; explore support services for older workers looking for new employment and obtain grants to refresh or gain new skills. Also available are support groups for care-givers and the opportunity to connect with free support for those with movement or vision difficulties.

Reminder: Farmer’s Market Checks issued by NYS Dep. Of Agriculture are distributed annually to low-income seniors (or their legal proxy) late summer. Contact the Senior Advocate for a registration form and full description of services.

Senior Adults

Senior Adults participate in regularly scheduled meetings and programs. A variety of activities such as informational presentations, crafts, exercise, movies, social functions, special programs and parties are offered. Free transportation is offered by the department for local shopping and meetings. Get your name on the senior mailing list to find out about all ongoing events. A Senior Citizen Nutrition Program and a home delivered Meals on Wheels Program are offered through an agreement with the Village of Mt. Kisco. The Department is always on the lookout for volunteers to help deliver the Meals on Wheels. If interested, please call the Senior Line at 914-666-7203.
