Boards, Commissions, and Committees

The Town of Bedford is reliant upon the steadfast commitment of the appointees that serve on our Boards, Commissions, and Committees. They are comprised of your neighbors and friends who invest countless hours as our stewards and protectors of the environment, health, safety, welfare, and future of the Town's open spaces, water, trees, and more.

Town Board

The Town Board is made up of five elected members who serve as the governing body of the Town that amends and passes laws and approves the annual town budget and funding of capital projects. The Town Supervisor sits as the chair of the board.

Advisory committees

Volunteer advisory committees, working groups, and task forces are usually tasked with a particular focus through which to provide their expertise or advice to the town board regarding policy, projects, and public education. Some take on projects of note.  Click here to see list of committees.

Permitting Boards

Permitting Boards grant approvals or variances to land use applications per town code and the town Comprehensive Plan. If you are building or renovating, you may need to appear before one of these boards.  All meetings are open to the public and posted to the town calendar.

Land Use Advisory Boards

Land use advisory boards serve in an advisory capacity regarding applications or other activities in the town impacting land and trees.
