How We Serve You: The department is the primary answering point for all 911 calls in the Town. Police, fire, and emergency medical services are dispatched through the 911 system. The Town of Bedford Police Department is a full-time, full-service police department with 40 sworn officers serving a community of approximately 18,000 residents over roughly 40 square miles. Uniformed officers of the Patrol Bureau provide services along approximately 161 miles of roadway within the town, as well as assistance along Interstate 684 and the Saw Mill River Parkway. The Bedford Police Department also maintains a full-service investigative division with detectives who investigate all criminal cases that are reported annually.

The full time Bedford Police Department consists of 40 sworn police officers and 14 full and part-time civilians. The department operates around the clock, seven days a week and provides the latest in professional police protection. It is led by a Police Chief and three Lieutenants who serve as commanders of the patrol, administration and staff services divisions.
